Amputation is a customary medical treatment when a patient's leg cannot be saved. Amputation can be due to a variety of ailments, including poor circulation to the leg, traumatic injuries, birth defects, and certain diseases, such as cancer or diabetes that leave the leg without function. If you have had a leg amputated, it can be a difficult situation emotionally and physically.
